Chris Whelpdale insists Gillingham must aim to sneak into the play-off places over the remaining two games of the season.
The Gills, four points adrift of the top seven, know they realistically have to take the maximum reward from Saturday’s trip to Northampton and the final-day clash at home to Morecambe to have any chance of finishing in the play-offs.
And Whelpdale is concerned purely with doing just that, not with the fortunes of rivals Crewe and Oxford.
“We have to win the next two games and we just need to think about getting those six points,” said the midfielder, who bagged a brace in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Swindon.
“We just have to concentrate on ourselves and make sure we bring the three points back from Northampton.”
Meanwhile, Senegal’s national team will be based in Medway and will train at Priestfield this summer having seen off Oman 2-0 on Monday night in the men’s play-off to book the final football place at this summer’s Olympics.
Gills hope to arrange a friendly against Senegal, who have been drawn in Group A at the 2012 Games alongside Great Britain, Uruguay and UAE.
